Television was once a fine invention with lofty expectations. The FCC created regulations for TV called the Public Interest Standards which mandated that broadcasting must be of a high educational value. In 1949 the Fairness Doctrine was added, mandating that broadcasting be "honest, equitable and balanced." The goal was to ensure that the public was "exposed to a diversity of viewpoints" keeping political influence even-handed.
During Ronald Reagan's presidency, in 1987, the FCC removed the Fairness Doctrine. There is no longer any "fair and balanced" programming on television. Because of this, broadcast, cable and satellite television is permeated with inaccuracies, distortions and lies.
The American public has been so infused with TV trash, a whole generation has reached voting age that may completely collapse our civilization.
